What is Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy?
Therapeutic Ultrasound is a physiotherapy treatment that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce both thermal and non-thermal effects in mainly soft tissue structures to improve healing and remodeling of injuries.
It is particularly useful in improving wound healing, remodeling scar tissue, reducing edema and soft tissue filling in limbs, improving flexibility of movement after injury and fibrosis, and treating muscle injuries. It also works well on scar tissue

Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy in Dogs
Did you know that Therapeutic Ultrasound can also be used on dogs? Therapeutic Ultrasound can be used on muscles, joints, bones, ligaments & tendons. It can help help with a variety of conditions, including:
Pain & inflammation: Therapeutic Ultrasound can reduce pain & muscle spasms, decrease inflammation & swelling.
Range of Motion: Therapeutic Ultrasound can increase the stretch in fibrous tissues, which can help increase range of motion.
Scar Tissue: Therapeutic Ultrasound can soften and break down scar tissue that interferes with movement.
Wound Healing: Therapeutic Ultrasound can speed up the healing process.
I have used this modality on dogs who have had IVDD to aid with pain & reduction in inflammation.
